The White Man Project
Performance/Action, Ink portraits, 2004, Rotterdam The Netherlands.
A caucasian (white) actor is hired to portray the artist 'Jean-Ulrick Désert' and offer free Art Lesson's to the public in the BRUCE New Art Foundation gallery space- Images of the Zwarte Piet, a white dutch person in black-face along side shopping bag images of two american performers in white-face hung in the gallery windows. The art lesson brochures used Édouard Manet's odalisque painting Olympia of 1863.
