Jn.Ulrick Désert is a visual artist living and working between USA and Europe. His conceptually based projects vary from Sculpture, Photography, Video, Prints, Performance and deal with shifts in perception and the fluidity of meanings. “THE PASSION” by American artist Jean-Ulrick Désert is an interactive installation-sculpture for the Exhibition “Ein Spiel-viele Welten (One Game-Many Worlds)” in the lobby of the Stadtmuseum München from 18. May - 3. September 2006 The artist focuses on football (*soccer) fan culture eccentricities, typified by fanatic fans and hooligans. Visitors to the museum and the general public are invited by the artist to participate as models in a fan-costume created for this exhibition. An on-going growing collection of digital fotos in the museum lobby allows the public to be part of a historic exhibition. Mr. Desert’s artwork significantly avoids affiliations with specific soccer clubs, sponsors or nations. The archetypes of tribalism are all the more made visible in “THE PASSION”. Die so fortlaufend anwachsende Sammlung digitaler Fotografien in der Museumslobby ermöglicht der Öffentlichkeit, ein Teil dieser historischen Ausstellung zu werden. Déserts Kunstprojekt vermeidet bezeichnenderweise die konkrete Bezugnahme auf einzelne Fußballvereine, Sponsoren oder Nationen. Archetypische Sichtweisen des Fans als Teil einer Stammesgesellschaft werden in “THE PASSION” so besonders sichtbar gemacht.
